Jake Mehew, a versatile audiovisual artist hailing from Leeds, UK, stands at the forefront of the mixed-media electronic art scene. His creations seamlessly weave together modular technologies, generative visual stimuli, and spatial sound staging, resulting in a myriad of immersive configurations tailored for each public performance. In August 2020, Jake earned the prestigious Sage Gateshead Summer Artist Residency, embarking on an intense week of artistic seclusion to craft a monumental 55-minute record. This endeavor, devoid of preconceived notions, brought forth his debut LP, "Sage," released on ATA Records in September 2022. Garnering acclaim from influential figures such as Gilles Peterson of BBC Radio 6 and Tony Minivielle of Jazz FM, the vinyl edition swiftly sold out, establishing Jake as a rising force in the global electronic art landscape.

In 2023, Jake achieved distinction as a recipient of the Richie Hawtin PhD scholarship at the University of Huddersfield, coupled with the Arts Council England 2023 DYCP grant. His PhD research delves into the examination of metaphors of magic within audiovisual art and modular synth electronic performance. Building on the ACE DYCP grant, Jake immersed himself in a year of learning Python coding and creative design of audio-reactive digital visuals in Touchdesigner. Envisioning the future, Jake aspires to pioneer VR artistic experiences, harnessing the power of Unreal Engine to bring his creative vision to life.

Throughout his illustrious career, Jake has shared the stage with notable artists such as Suzanne Ciani, Arooj Aftab, The Comet is Coming, and Soccer 96. As a fervent advocate for immersive technology, Jake's upcoming work with Berlin-based spatial audio studio MONOM, titled "Microcosms," promises to push boundaries. Presented as a 57-speaker installation, this project will be released as a binaural album accompanied by a captivating visual experience, slated for 2024. Beyond that, Jake has contributed to immersive festival experiences for D&B Audiotechnik and showcased his works at renowned institutions and festivals, including Britten Pears Arts, Sage Gateshead, The Nottingham Contemporary, Houghton Festival, We Out Here, Superbooth, and the Berlin Modular Society.
